On November 14, 2024, GC Insights shared insights on supply chain sustainability at the "2024 Network Meeting of Dutch (Brabant) Enterprises" event held at the Sino-Dutch (Suzhou) High-tech Innovation Port.
The event, co-organised by the Brabant Development Agency (BOM) and the Netherlands Consulate General Shanghai, brought together Dutch businesses, Chinese partners, and economic and sustainability experts to address key topics, including China's economic landscape amidst geopolitical influence, Brabant’s internationalisation strategy and market opportunities, and the implications of European business legislation on supply chains in China.
As part of the program “Aligning EU-CSDDD: Managing Supply Chain Sustainability in China” GC Insights shared its expertise on navigating the European Union’s Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD). This directive, entered into force since July 2024, creates obligations for companies to conduct due diligence on their supply chains, focusing on human rights and environmental impacts.
The EU CSDDD sets a new standard for supply chain accountability. It emphasises proactive risk identification and mitigation rather than merely reporting on existing practices. For companies participating in the EU markets, this represents both a challenge and an opportunity to embed sustainability into their supply chain management. At GC Insights, we are committed to helping businesses navigate these changes effectively, leveraging tools and strategies that align compliance with long-term value creation.
The event highlighted the growing importance of knowledge exchange and partnership in addressing global sustainability challenges, especially in complex supply chain environments like China. GC Insights was proud to contribute its insights and looks forward to continuing its support for businesses striving to meet evolving regulatory requirements.
